Welcome to Our "Wonderful Water & Weather" Month!
Welcome to a month of splashing, blowing, and discovering! In June, our “Wonderful Water & Weather” theme will guide your toddler through an exploration of the natural world. They will learn about rain and clouds, see how water can turn into ice, and discover the vibrant colors of the rainbow. We will also explore different kinds of weather, learn about water safety, and understand why water is so important for everyone. Our goal is to foster curiosity and key developmental skills through exciting, hands-on sensory play.
Week 1: June 2nd - June 6th (Focus: Introduction to Water, Rain & Clouds)
- Curiosity & Exploration: We will spark your child’s curiosity about the natural world through rich, multi-sensory exploration.
- Fine Motor Skills: The focus is on developing fine motor skills and an early understanding of cause and effect as your child interacts with water and other textured materials.
- Creative Expression: We will encourage creative expression, allowing your child to interpret and represent their new ideas about weather.
Week 2: June 9th - June 13th (Focus: Water States & Rainbows)
- Observation & Problem Solving: We will build early problem-solving skills as your toddler observes changes in temperature and how water transforms from solid to liquid.
- Fine Motor Control: The goal is to enhance fine motor control and hand-eye coordination through engaging, hands-on experiences.
- Color Recognition: We will introduce the vibrant colors of the rainbow, supporting your child’s ability to recognize and name different colors.
Week 3: June 16th - June 20th (Focus: Weather Phenomena & Safety)
- Vocabulary & Categorization: Our aim is to build your child’s descriptive vocabulary (e.g., hot/cold) and their ability to understand simple categories.
- Emotional Understanding: We will explore more dynamic weather concepts, like storms, in a safe and supportive environment to foster emotional understanding and security.
- Safety Foundations: This week, we will begin establishing foundational safety concepts, promoting an awareness of themselves and their immediate
Week 4: June 23rd - June 27th (Focus: Water Uses & Conservation)
- Self-Help Skills: We will foster important self-help skills and an understanding of personal hygiene routines connected to water.
- Empathy & Responsibility: The goal is to cultivate empathy and a sense of responsibility by learning how plants and animals also need water.
- Scientific Inquiry: We will explore foundational scientific concepts like why some things float, building a base for future scientific curiosity.
Week 5: June 30th (Focus: Theme Review & Wrap-up)
- Memory & Recall: We will focus on helping your child recall information and build confidence by expressing their favorite parts of the theme.
- Celebrating Learning: This week is about celebrating your child’s learning journey and consolidating their new knowledge through joyful, creative expression and play.
