Welcome to Our "Fantastic Fairy Tales & Fun" Month!

Get ready for a magical February! Our theme for the month is “Fantastic Fairy Tales & Fun,” and we are excited to introduce your toddlers to the enchanting world of classic stories. Through simple, engaging activities, your little ones will explore beloved tales, meet memorable characters, and let their imaginations soar.

This month, our activities will focus on key toddler development areas through the lens of classic fairy tales. We will be fostering early literacy and listening skills as we read stories together, encouraging creative expression through art and sensory play, and developing social skills through imaginative and dramatic group activities. All experiences are designed to be fun and adaptable, catering to each child’s unique pace and interests.

Here’s a glimpse of what your toddler will be experiencing:

Week 1: February 2nd - 6th (Focus: The Three Little Pigs)
  • Story Exploration: Toddlers will be introduced to the characters and basic plot of “The Three Little Pigs” through engaging storytelling, repetition, and visual aids.

  • Tactile Discovery: Your toddler will explore materials from the story, like straw, sticks, and blocks, to understand and describe different textures.

  • Character Connection: Through creative expression and sensory art, toddlers will connect with the story’s characters in a hands-on way.

  • Dramatic Expression: Toddlers will use their bodies and voices to act out parts of the story, like the wolf’s “huff and puff,” fostering early dramatic play skills.

Week 2: February 9th - 13th (Focus: Goldilocks & The Three Bears)
  • Story Engagement: We will explore “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” focusing on repetitive language (“Too hot!,” “Just right!”) and concepts of size.

  • Early Math Concepts: Your toddler will be introduced to the concept of size (big, medium, and small) through hands-on exploration with story-related objects.

  • Creative Representation: Toddlers will create art inspired by the bear characters, helping them to visually process and interpret the story.

  • Imaginative Play: Your toddler will engage in pretend play, re-enacting scenes from the story to deepen their understanding and practice social interactions.

Week 3: February 16th - 20th (Focus: Little Red Riding Hood)
  • Narrative Introduction: We will introduce the story of “Little Red Riding Hood,” focusing on the journey, key characters, and the importance of listening to caregivers.

  • Gross Motor Skills & Safety: Toddlers will practice following simple paths and directions, connecting movement to the story’s theme of staying safe.

  • Exploring Story Props: Your toddler will engage with key items from the story, like baskets and cloaks, through creative and imaginative activities.

  • Understanding Characters: We will explore the concept of disguise through playful dress-up, helping toddlers understand simple character motivations in a non-scary way.

Week 4: February 24th - 27th (Focus: Fairy Tale Review & Celebration)
  • Reviewing Favorites: Toddlers will recall and share their favorite stories and characters from the month, reinforcing memory and expressing personal preferences.

  • Collaborative Storytelling: Your toddler will contribute to group storytelling, using visual cues and props to build a simple, shared narrative with their peers.

  • Celebrating Learning: We will conclude our theme by celebrating our journey through the world of fairy tales, sharing our creations and favorite moments to build a sense of community and accomplishment.
